Learn how to refill your HP 54 black ink cartridge by reading the simple. five-step tutorial we’ve created for you in this post.
The HP 56 black ink cartridge contains high page yield due to the quantity of ink carried by this cartridge. You can print up to 520 pages with one single cartridge, however, when refilled this number will consequently be reduced by 400 pages.

If you have not used the cartridge for a long time, we suggest cleaning it first because there may be some dried ink on the printhead which is never good. If you wish to learn how to clean the cartridge contacts, please read our post about it.
After being done with the cleaning process which again is not mandatory, you can refill the cartridge. We recommend cleaning the cartridge after every three refills.
Step #1:
First, put your ink cartridge on some flat surface, you can use an old piece of clothing to cover the surface to avoid the ink from reaching the flat surface.
Step #2:
Carefully remove the sticky with the number on it, when removed air can easily access the ink cartridge. It important because this contributes to the performance and the print quality.
Step #3:
You may now inject the 17ml of ink very slowly into the cartridge. Please do this as slowly as possible to help the ink spread inside the cartridge and soak up the sponge in it.
Step #4:
Now that you have refilled the ink cartridge, all you need to do is print a test sheet with. We recommend leaving the cartridge in the printer from this moment on.

If the cartridge continues to blink or have any other problems after refilling it, please apply the following procedure:
Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and clean the contacts on it with a wet napkin. You should also clean the contacts on the printer.- If you still can’t find a solution, turn the printer off for 10 minutes and disconnect the power cord.
- You may plug this cable and put the ink cartridge back in the printer after the 10 minutes have passed.
