The first recommendation is to never completely use your ink cartridge until it becomes dry out. Try to leave a little quantity of ink inside the cartridge when removing it from the printer.

We usually come across ink cartridges that have been stored for a long time with the ink head unprotected. Always make sure to properly discard your ink cartridge when you are done using it.

If you are going to refill it clean and check if the injectors are still intact, for example, if the ink is dripping through them. Protect them so they do not get clogged with dried ink before they are placed in the printer.

It is important to constantly use your printer if you have installed an ink cartridge inside. DO NOT store your printer for a long period of time with the ink cartridge installed.
